Wanganui has a lot to
offer vistors we have beautiful Virginia lake walking track Avairy and
winter gardens. Waimarie paddle steamer cruise the river to Upokongaro
and visit the river boat centre and the tram shed to site the
restoration of our tram. Visit the splash centre and hydro slide
indoor pool. Shop the wonderful Saturday market with local organic
produce and entertainment. Car enthusiastic visitors its a must to
visit Boyd’s Auto Barn Museum. Its a must for children to visit the
kowhai park with beautiful established trees and walking tracks set on
the banks of the Wanganui river. Wanganui has the choice of 3 beaches
right on our door step castlecliff beach its also only a 10 minute
drive to beautiful Mowhanau beach and up the road we have Ototoka
beach. On the drive to Mowhanau beach are the bason botanic gardens
and at Fordell we have the lovely paloma gardens with many specimens
of palms and bamboos.
Wanganui is full of artists and we have our
own glass blowing studio which can be viewed by public. Visit the
sarjeant art gallery. Nice drive out to busy park home stead and bushy
park kiwi sanctuary Wanganuis nature paradise . Walk the tunnel to the
durie hill elevator and climb to the top of the 33.5 metre tower and
view the city. Grey hound racing is held every week at the hatrick
raceway.
Wanganui has large outer areas for hunting , river mouth
for fishing , and is a very warm, friendly family place to visit.
